Welcome Back!
Welcome to the Griot Youth Program student blog! The Griot Youth Program is a non profit after school program in Clarksdale, Mississippi that provides classes in the arts to at-risk teenagers. From Monday through Thursday students come to GYP to hang out, get a snack, and engage in thought provoking conversations and projects centered around the arts. We focus on giving emotional and spiritual support to our students by allowing them to express themselves through visual art, music, dance.
We also strongly believe in our mentoring program that partners local adult mentors with each of our students. This is the first year that we are implementing a student blog for our students. Through this blog we hope to invite you into our world. We hope to share our stories, and we definitely hope to share our vision.
